Iron Pellets Chips
- Iron Ore Pellets are small, spherical agglomerates of iron ore fines, used in blast furnaces and direct reduction furnaces for steelmaking. They are typically 8-16 mm in diameter.
- Iron Ore Chips are small fragments of iron ore (usually 6-30 mm) generated during mining and crushing. They have a coarser texture than fines but are not as refined as pellets.

Composition of Iron Ore Pellets Chips
Iron Ore Pellets Composition
| Component | Percentage (%) |
|---|---|
| Iron (Fe) | 62 – 67% |
| Silica (SiO₂) | 1.0 – 3.5% |
| Alumina (Al₂O₃) | 0.5 – 2.0% |
| Phosphorus (P) | < 0.05% |
| Sulfur (S) | < 0.01% |
| Moisture | < 2.0% |
Iron Ore Chips Composition
- Iron ore chips have Fe content between 58-65%, depending on the ore quality.
- Higher impurities (SiO₂, Al₂O₃) compared to pellets.
- Mainly used in sponge iron plants and smaller steel mills.
